A sell-out crowd, a fired-up band, a setlist of crowd favourites, sing-alongs, circle pits, chanting, smoke jets, hands in the air. I guess you could say the gig had it all. Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide was the scene, FROM ASHES TO NEW
was the band. It was their first visit to Adelaide and I am certain it won’t be their last. It was the most packed I’ve seen that room for a few years, packed to the gills it was, and the band set the scene from the opening notes of ‘New Disease’. The crowd favourites were laid on thick, people singing along all night, the loudest during ‘Drag Me’, ‘Die For You’ and ‘Panic’. The crowd was very loud and really appreciated the fact that band came to town.
One particular moment I will mention is when a fan handed a denim jacket up for autographs. The jacket made reference to the infamous water pistol incident. (A quick search on youtube will fill you in on that). The band responded by playing ‘Hate Me’, the song they were playing when that incident originally occurred), an extra song not on the setlist, but thrown in just for us.
The band brought the energy, the fans brought the love and a great night was had by all.
If you missed it, catch them when they come again. They WILL come again, but I’m certain it will be at a larger venue.
I was graciously allowed photo access and my efforts through the occasionally blinding light, are shown below.
Cheers.
