Last night saw U.S. East Coast Legends, ANTHRAX, play Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide. It was eagerly anticipated and paid off in spades.
First up, NZ heavyweights, ALIEN WEAPONRY set the tone very early with a firebrand set of in-your-face Metal. I saw these guys a few years ago at Froth and Fury Fest and was impressed so I was keen for a repeat. The sound these guys get for a 3 piece is unreal, with all contributing vocals and contributing to the experience. See them when you can.
Next up, ANTHRAX. You know, every time I see these guys I come away impressed. They’ve been at it for a while obviously but some bands maybe ride that, and don’t elevate, whereas ANTHRAX take it up a notch. Joey is probably one of the best frontmen in the genre, and one of the best voices at well. The band enjoyed themselves. The crowd enjoyed themselves. Lots of legs in the air, and bodies passed into the pit where security looked after them well. Lots of old school metalheads there, some obviously taking their kids, and the kids loved it as well. A good old school setlist and the crowd singalongs were loud and proud.
