Friday night at The Gov. 4 heavy bands, 1 good time.
Heaps of Adelaide Metalheads flocked to The Gov on Friday night for a feast of Metal.
First up, NAKATOMI PLAZA opened proceedings in fine style with a great set of material from their debut album. They get better and better every time I see them.
STORM THE CROWN were up next and took the heaviness up a notch with their own brand of fiery metal. An aggressive set was pumped out and the bodies started moving over each other at this point.
HEADBORE up next. As I said to a few of the guys in the band afterwards, it’s been quite a while since I’ve seen this level of intensity displayed by a local band. New and old material was played with optimal precision.
Then, DOUBLE DRAGON. I’ve seen these guys a number of times but never in a headline situation. It was always supporting international artists (for a time it seemed like they supported everyone who came here) or lastly at Froth and Fury, so it was highly anticipated. Well, what can I say? It seemed like it was a school reunion down there in the pit, bodies on the stage, bodies in the air, more bodies on the stage, some with microphones, some with beers, some just using it as a launch pad. The set was received like a jug of water in the desert. Crazy stuff.
