The legendary METAL CHURCH returned to Australia for their second visit, and played their first gig ever in Adelaide at the Crown & Anchor Hotel last Sunday night. To say it was a freaking crazy experience is a massive understatement. The roof was blown off. FIRESTORM brought the heat early. The pace was kicking with the boys from Broken Hill. DIRTY PAGANS were up next and provided a high energy set of their own particular brand of ‘Riff’N’Roll’. METAL CHURCH took the proceedings to the next level with a decidedly old school set of classics with a few new ones mixed in. For original fans like myself the setlist was spot on, in fact, if they had given me a blank sheet of paper and said, ‘Mal, write us up a setlist’, I probably wouldn’t have done much, if any, different from what was presented. New vocalist, Marc Lupes, proved a perfect choice, as I always felt he would be, and the capacity crowd at the Cranka was treated to a magnificent show. Bring it on again. As you would expect, I had my camera with me, the results are shown below.
