Review – CIVIL WAR – ‘Invaders’

Whoa, top album. This is a band that had inexplicably slipped by me. That won’t happen again.
This is the first album with ‘new’ vocalist, Kelly Sundown Carpenter, and what a ripper it is too. From the very first notes I’m taken back to early century Kamelot, that sort of Melodic Power Metal that just rips along beautifully.
With the original link to Sabaton, songs are war based, drawn from various conflicts, from the Irish fighting off the Vikings, to the Native Americans battling the invaders, even a song written from the point of view of a prisoner in the American Civil War, like I said, it’s varied . Songs are generally 4-5 minutes long, only 2 going longer than 5 minutes, one of those being with a long intro. Vocal melodies are excellent, as are the song structures, drawing you in to the story without getting ‘wanky’.
This album is on heavy rotation here.

Verdict – All killer, no filler.

Fave tracks – ‘Soldiers And Kings’, ‘Oblivion’, ‘Warrior Soul’.

For fans of – Kamelot, Nocturnal Rites, Rhapsody Of Fire, Sabaton.

Release date – OUT NOW.
