Every now and then you see a gig and you’re lost for words for how to describe it to someone who wasn’t there. This is one of those gigs. I’ve seen GLENN HUGHES before and it was fantastic, but to say this was on the same level would be wrong. This was at a level far beyond. To think that a man can still sing (and play bass) like that at his age (sorry Glenn) is unfathomable. It was far reaching and it seemed effortless. There was a few stories added to the mix between songs, which made it very personal and engaging. The set list was short but the gig was long, we saw a real 1970’s rock show in that respect. Classic Purple was the order of the day and it was awesome. The whole band seemed taylor made for doing this, with the impressive skills on display from all who walked on stage. Wow, I’m still stunned. Special mention to Adelaide’s own DIRTY PAGANS for scoring the support slot for the whole tour, and flying the flag high. Well done, lads. Once again I was graciously allowed photo access, and the results from a foggy Governor Hindmarsh Hotel are shown below.
